Description
Mezzacorona is the market leader in the northern Italian region of Trentino (Alto Adige). Here they control 2,400 hectares of vineyards with the most important grape variety being Pinot Grigio.
MezzaCorona has existed since 1904 and is one of the very first cooperatives in Italy. Nowadays, the name MezzaCorona stands for a group of wine companies from the far north to the deep south of Italy. Whoever says MezzaCorona, nevertheless immediately says Trentino. And vice versa. MezzaCorona controls around 2,400 hectares of vineyards there and in the neighbouring Alto Adige. Trentino is located in the north of Italy between Verona and the Alps where wine growing is concentrated in the Adige valley. Characteristic of the region is a fairly varied planting with the most famous grape being the immensely popular Pinot Grigio. The MezzaCorona range naturally includes a number of different styles of Pinot Grigio and in red it is mainly special regional specialities such as Lagrein and Teroldego Rotaliano.
About the wine
After more than a century of adaptation to the vineyards of Trentino and the Dolomite landscape, this grape variety has become Trentino's prince of white grapes. This title is just right, because the wine reveals its good origins. Delicacy and elegance in one! The Maso di Mezzo Pinot Grigio is produced with grapes from the vineyards along the Adige and Noce rivers, where it has found its ideal habitat thanks to the fertile soil. In the glass, this leads to an elegant straw yellow color. The fragrant nose is pleasantly delicate and rich in fruity (pear and melon) notes accompanied by floral hints of chamomile. In the mouth it is dry with an elegant refreshing acidity.
Food & moment
Excellent as a meal accompaniment or just solitaire on the couch it goes well! A good partner for a risotto with shrimp. Also good with Moroccan and Mediterranean fish dishes such as grilled sea bass.
